Industrial control system (ICS) exposures have long been a concern for security researchers, as these systems are foundational to many critical infrastructure operations.
In Censys’ third annual State of the Internet Report, the Censys research team used its unique view of global internet infrastructure to examine the global state of these exposures and took a closer look at human-machine interface (HMI) exposures, which have been increasingly targeted in attacks.
Watch the session recording for an in-depth conversation about the report’s findings. During the webinar, we covered key takeaways, including:
- Global ICS service exposures: Censys observed over 145,000 exposed ICS services across 175 countries. Learn which countries had the highest volume and ratio of attacks.
- HMI exposures: Discover why HMIs have become attractive targets for threat actors and learn which industries are most affected by exposures.
- ICS services in the UK: ICS attack surfaces are regionally unique. Understand which ICS services are most exposed in the United Kingdom.
- Recommendations for operators: Learn about the simple steps operators can take to better secure their industrial control systems from attacks.
