We are all aware of the extraordinary transformational impact that technology has had on our lives. Technological innovation has reshaped the way we do business and connect with friends and family. It has provided convenience and efficiency, but that convenience can also be a double-edged sword. The speed with which we do our work has multiplied the impact of human error, just one of the unintended consequences of technological change. Often, it seems, with the rapid adoption of new technologies, that we are reacting to change rather than managing it, with all the impact that has on our people.

Recent breaches have affected not only the organisations targeted, but also their communities, adding another level of responsibility to business. To the everyday user, their data often feels a hostage to fortune in today’s connected world. This puts real pressure on all of us who have a role in protecting that data. Enabling our most important asset – our people – remains key. So how do we prepare them to cope with an everchanging world where an error can have implications way beyond the business? We were delighted to host our second Awareness event of 2025 with BT Group, whose mission is to connect people, technology and society.
