According to DLA Piper’s latest annual report, there have been more than 281,000 data breach notifications across the countries surveyed, and fines of more than £245.3 million have been imposed since the launch of GDPR on 25 May 2018.

The DLA Piper General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) fines and data breach survey: January 2021 looks at data and key metrics from the 27 European Union Member States, plus the UK, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

Ross McKean – editor of the survey and a regular presenter of SASIG webinars – discusses the key findings from the report with a particular focus on fines relating to data breaches and the emerging legal standard for security controls.

Join Ross to find out who tops the tables for aggregate fines and most data breach reports, and whether population and cultural differences have an impact on breach notifications.
