Monday 24 May 2021, 11am-12.30pm (BST)

This session was originally planned to be part of April’s Academy series on supply chains. It was then opened to everyone to attend.

With the rapid increase in digitisation, cyber threats are increasingly reaching organisations through vulnerabilities in their suppliers or supplied products and services. The Government is preparing a new National Cyber Strategy which aims to build a more resilient and prosperous digital UK, ensuring organisations are empowered to adopt new technology and addressing vulnerabilities in digital infrastructure.

This is where the SASIG community comes in.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) is seeking your views on how to improve cybersecurity in supply chains and in managed service providers. They are asking for feedback from industry professionals on existing guidance and a proposed framework for managed service provider security.

Attendees gave their input on:

  • How organisations currently manage supplier cyber risk and assurance
  • Examples of good supple chain cyber risk management practice
  • What additional support organisations need to manage supplier risk effectively
  • Commercial and cyber security risk challenges associated with Managed Service Providers

During the session, representatives from DCMS asked questions around supply chains, the risks associated with managed service providers, what providers are doing well and what the biggest challenges in working with them are, the commercial support available for managing risks, and what Government interventions would be most effective.
