On 10 June, the war in Ukraine entered its fourth month. Against expectations, the Ukrainian military has inflicted defeats on its numerically larger opponent at Kyiv and Kharkhiv. Mariupol has fallen to the Russian forces but only after stubborn resistance over 80 days. The conflict is now entering another stage with the Battle for the Donbas in full flow.

But this war is proving far more than a regional conflict. Its impact is being felt across the globe. The prospect of famine in Africa and elsewhere as a consequence is real, and the shadow of a nuclear escalation continues to cast a shadow over Europe.

There is a continuing information war playing out in cyberspace, and the growing issue of autonomous actors has the potential to inflict unintentional consequences beyond the current physical warzone.

Our expert panel discussed the latest developments in the war, considered its geopolitical implications, and looked at what it means for businesses. They gave advice on protecting yourself and your organisation from cyber threats related to the war, and how to bolster organisations’ defences.
