Social engineering is king. It’s easier to find someone who will click than to find an exploit for an operating system. An attacker simply needs to know who has access to what they want and then get creative. The organisational chart is the new zero-day and, today, is publicly available on social media. Most security teams don’t have the same perspective that threat actors do; they think of their attack surface in terms of databases and networks instead of department or job title.

By enriching email threat data from multiple organisations with names, job titles and functions, Proofpoint joined us to paint a picture of the current threat landscape in the public sector and bridge the gap between what the attacker targets and what the security team assumes they must defend.

Watch now and discover how to leverage the insight gained to optimise security controls, and target defensive and awareness activities where they will have the most impact against external attacks and insider threats.
