The face of cybercrime continues to evolve at a pace, aided and abetted by the emergence of new technologies. Ransomware remains a persistent threat. The theft of data and IP are at the forefront of most boards’ concerns, as well as the reputational impact of a breach. The potential of generative AI to enhance phishing attacks and enable ‘deep fake’ campaigns is a further complication, as is cybercrime’s ability to ignore judicial boundaries.

This joint NPCC/SASIG conference focused on how businesses can improve their resilience in the face of such threats. UK Law Enforcement, in close coordination with central and regional government, has developed an array of capabilities and advisory services to help us achieve this, with the emphasis firmly on Protect and Prepare. This agenda focused on how those capabilities and services can help UK businesses make themselves difficult targets for bad actors and, in the process, become more resilient.
