We are privileged that Jim Stokley will be joining us discuss his work as Deputy Director, National Cyber Crime Unit at the National Crime Agency (NCA). He will describe the NCCU’s roles and objectives, and the network of national and international agencies with which the NCA works. He will give his unique perspective on changes and developments in the online threat landscape, and explore what both organisations and individuals can do to protect themselves from the growing threat of ransomware. He will discuss the government’s initiatives both to prevent young people from straying into cybercrime and to encourage them into careers in cybersecurity.
Jim joined the National Crime Agency as Head of the UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) in November 2018. Prior to this appointment, he worked for the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) for 25 years, most recently as Commander for Serious and Organised Crime and Trident. Throughout his police career Jim has worked in a variety of areas including: Homicide, Sexual Offences and Counter-Terrorism where he held a number of senior investigative roles. During his MPS service, he was commended ten times including one Judge and two Commissioner Commendations.
