The European Union’s AI Act started coming into force from February 2025, with staggered application over time, and possible fines of up to 7% of an organisation’s turnover.
This webinar outlined:
- The timetable, main requirements, regulators and sanctions
- The types of AI in scope: prohibited AI, high-risk AI systems, ‘limited-risk’ AI with transparency requirements, general-purpose AI (GPAI) models i.e. foundation models, and GPAI models with systemic risk
- The types of players affected: including users (deployers) and providers of AI systems, and GPAI model providers
- Why even UK organisations need to consider the AI Act
We also summarised issues with AI supply chain complexities, and provided an update on the UK position on AI regulation.
