Artificial intelligence is reshaping investigations, but can compliance professionals afford to ignore it, or trust it? This session examines the practical application of AI in Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and explores the critical gap between AI’s capabilities and the rigorous demanded for financial crime prevention and the regulators.

Drawing on real-world experience with leading AI research tools, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others, we demonstrate how AI accelerates information-gathering, translation, and report-writing while identifying hidden pitfalls that could compromise investigations. From hallucinations and single-source bias to data security concerns and regulatory hesitance, the talk dissects why AI is only part of the solution.

We’ll learn practical strategies for integrating AI responsibly into due diligence workflows, understand critical questions around data sourcing and transparency, and explore how to validate AI outputs against multiple independent sources. This session challenges attendees to leverage AI’s power while maintaining the investigative rigour that keeps compliance officers and their boards out of jail.
