AI is arriving in organisations faster than security can govern it – and usually without security in the room. Procurement, business units and leadership make the call upstream; security inherits it downstream, asked to secure, govern and evidence oversight of systems it never authorised. In the 2026 CISO AI Risk Report, three-quarters of security leaders found unsanctioned AI already running in their environment, and most doubt they could detect misuse. Meanwhile regulatory duties – from UK data and equality law to the EU AI Act – all demand the same thing: a documented human in the loop, owned by the organisation, not the vendor. This session asks a simple question: how much say does security really have in AI? Chatham House Rule throughout.
