FIN12 is Mandiant’s most recently graduated threat actor. It has been behind prolific ransomware attacks since at least October 2018. FIN12 is unique among many tracked ransomware-focused actors today as they do not typically engage in multi-faceted extortion and have disproportionately impacted the healthcare sector.

In this talk, we provide an overview of FIN12 and discuss the wider implication across the cyber threat landscape. We also consider practical lessons that can be learned from Mandiant’s frontline experience in responding to ransomware intrusions.
