Once again kindly hosted by Kraft Heinz, this is the second SASIG Retailing workshop. At our first meeting, we agreed to refer to “Retailing” rather than just “Retail” since the retailing function is so omnipresent across so many industries and activities that our meetings should embrace these as well. We explored the unique security vulnerabilities and challenges of, and good security practices within, the retailing sector. We discussed how we balance improving the customer experience with data privacy, and how to achieve security in the extended retail enterprise? We agreed that the move into cyberspace by both the retailer and the consumer – and hence the shift in associated crime from the real world to the virtual – requires the CSO and the CISO to work closely together to ensure priorities and resources are properly deployed.
