The UK Cyber Security Council is the self-regulatory body for the UK’s cyber security profession. It develops, promotes and stewards nationally recognised standards for cyber security in support of the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy to make the UK the safest place to live and work online.

Appointed in September 2021, Simon Hepburn is the Council’s first CEO. He is a charity and education executive with over twenty years’ experience in a variety of national and international organisations. He has previously been Chief Executive of a charity, has founded two others, and has held Director roles with a variety of charities, multi-academy trusts and businesses. He was also a Trustee Board member of ACEVO (Association for Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations) and has sat on the BBC Charities Advisory Board.

We were privileged to hear more about Simon’s esteemed career, learn about the Council, and discover Simon’s vision for its role and early development. Martin and Simon also discussed their organisations’ partnership for Cybersecurity Skills Festival 3 on 22 February 2022.
