Being autistic in a world which is not built for autistic people means constantly adapting and problem-solving to interact with the world. It means a lifetime of improvement that requires patience on our own part and from those we interact with. This patience and perseverance can give autistic people an advantage in the right career.

The support we get from friends and colleagues is invaluable, and although there are legal protections and requirements from workplaces, a huge percentage of autistic people still face significant challenges.

The provision of reasonable adjustments is not an expectation or request for the world to make allowances, instead they remove barriers to working and are a way to level the playing field.

We looked at autism as part of a broad spectrum that includes numerous elements and traits, and support needs ranging from high to low.

Autism has its own spectrum, which means personality and other differences exist between autistic people just as they do between everyone else. This spectrum is not linear.

Watch now as we discussed why the information security industry can be a fantastic career fit for some autistic people.
