Data is often touted as the new oil… but unlike oil, data is infinite – constrained only by our ability to store and digest it.

Data privacy and protection experts from law, banking, and business backgrounds came together and discussed how we manage data, the legalities of processing it, data subject rights, breach detection, and the impact of privacy on innovation.

We dissected global trends and advancing technologies, and strategies for cultivating a privacy-first culture. We also discussed the balance between innovation and privacy, examining ethical considerations and effective communication strategies to build stakeholder trust.

Delving into contemporary legal frameworks, we highlighted essential compliance requirements, practical risk mitigation approaches, and how to navigate the complex landscape of international data regulations. Harmonising the extraterritorial regulations is particularly challenging, we looked at how to navigate them to ensure we do not fall foul of the law in various jurisdictions.

We cannot discuss data protection without addressing the potential for data breaches, so we also explored critical strategies for detecting and effectively responding to incidents.
